Why we built Flint
My brother is a medical device developer with a long track record of bringing devices to market—he even helped improve camera production for the imager used to find a vaccine for COVID. So he asked me to improve his team's design tracking software.
They were losing hours to design tools that didn't integrate and seemed designed to maximize profits rather than productivity. He wanted a system that let designers focus on their work, not documentation.
I'd been chasing something of my own for decades: a way to handle documentation that doesn't get torn up and replaced every few years. Clean. Organized. One source of truth — not seventeen copies scattered across drives. Built on more than half a century of hard-won wisdom about how text, documents, and images really work, yet able to keep up with anything in use today. We shaped it around running our own company, too, so contracts and records go out the door clean and you always know where everything lives.
A hardware engineer's dream and a software engineer's dream, two brothers, and a lot of decades between us — that became Flint. A foundation that doesn't move, for people who would rather build than do paperwork.

Flint is not a SaaS product. Each Flint environment is a fully isolated, single-tenant AWS infrastructure instance—dedicated VPC boundaries, private database clusters, and unified single sign-on (SSO). We architect it, we provision it, we hand you the keys.
What runs on it is the full operational stack your team needs: source control, document control, ERP, quality management, CI/CD, and automated documentation — configured, integrated, and ready.
