When my son saw the price of Red Wing boots, he didn't want me to spend the money. He thought a cheaper brand would do just as well, and couldn't see how any boot could be worth that much.
A few years later we were back for another pair, and a man came in saying he'd never owned Red Wings and wanted to try them. My son — who rarely volunteers his opinion — said:
"If you try them, you'll never leave them."
The salesman smiled and said, "And that's why we don't need to advertise. Our customers do it for us."
